More Football, Tank Johnson
All over the world, the actions of sport stars has been cause for concern. The big news in Chicago this fall has been Da Bears. The fans want a world championship, nothing less. It has been 20 years since the 85 Bears. I have only lived in this area for 12 years but i am begining to understand the love affair between this city and da Bears. Iron Mike Ditka, once said something to the effect, the Bulls can win 10 championships, it is nothing like when da bears win. Da Coach is right.
“Tank Under Fire!” the headline screamed from the Chicago Suntimes. The entire sports media is up in arms, sports radio stations have been on this topic all day. BEARS DEFENSIVE TACKLE HANK JOHNSON HIT WITH 6 MISDEMEANOR FIREARMCHARGES. The cops stormed his home, his 2 young children were removed from the home. Tank’s buddy was charged with a felony pot charge. Big deal, as OJ would say, Tank did not kill anybody.
The fans on sports radio that are so upset, I wonder how many are at games drunk, exposing themselves, using foul mouths. The sports fans and media demand Tank be punished, I wonder how many would say that if the team loses with out Tank.
The cops did a 5 week investigation, bases on complaints from tank’s neighbors, about loud dogs. I think this is a case of redneck Gurnee, ILLĀ neighbors, jealous of a large 25 year old rich black man living with what appears to be a white girlfriend and biracial kids.
Mistakes were made but in this case the overaction to as simple as black and white. Let Tank play.

OK, I spoke too quick, Tank did not kill anybody, but now his good friend and house mate is dead. Tank it is not good to be the news 2 days in a row, with guns involved. This is now serious stuff.

Jim,
Tank obviously doesn’t have a clue to the blessings he has been given. We all make mistakes but that is no excuse for stupidity. Redneck neighbors or not, I wouldn’t want him to live in my neighborhood.

This has become a tragic story. Da Bears need to stand by Tank. They brought him to the big city when 6 other teams felt Tanks off field actions were too much of a problem. No matter if Da Bears decide to release Tank or not, they should try to provide him with some help. Thank you for your comment

I don’t think neighbors have to be “rednecks” to not want a fellow neighbor to shoot guns or have numerous and apparently vicious dogs barking at all hours of the night. Heck, I got mad when my neighbors crank the music too loud! (I’m white, they’re white, if that matters) As for fans at games “being drunk, exposing themselves, and using foul mouths,” I’ve never seen nudity at a game, but drunks and profanity are an unfortunate given in today’s society. However, one tends to frown upon firearms in public and around children. Ya think?
