Murder of a world leader
George Bush had overwhelming support to go to war and bomb Iraq with shock and awe. It was considered un American to exercise our Bill of Rights, freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The country band from Texas, The Dixie Girls found out when they said,”George Bush makes them ashamed to be from Texas.
Now that support has lessen and the true purpose of war exposed,a hit on Saddamn, how many more of us are ashamed to be American. Hangings are a part of America’s history with heckling mobs, in the past the man at the end of the rope was a blackman. See the BBC story below to see how one of our allies reacted.

JD,
I think we’re on opposite sides of this argument. Hussein was not a leader, he was a monster. No one elected or chose him to lead, he brutally took the position, allowed his family to rape and pillage his people, and when the Kurds tried to over throw him, he tried to enact the genocide of their people.
Someone has to step forward and put a stop to these people. Someone has to protect the minority, the helpless, and the victims. Who else will do that? The rest of the world is scared that we’ll make them mad… or make them a martyr.
Hussein killed himself, no one murdered him. With or without Bush, Hussein would have never lived a long life. He killed, stole and raped too many to make it out alive.
Sorry if I sound over the top… I just hate when people blame the victim. Regardless of whether or not Hussein was a threat to the United States, no one would argue that he was a threat to humanity and his own country.
Starting the war because of WMD’s was a disaster. Trying to spread democracy to this corner of the world is a disaster. But removing a brutal dictator and offering a nation a glimmer of hope to decide their own fate is not a crime.
Most Respectfully,
Doug

I cannot support the death pentaly under any situation. Hussein was our ally during the Kurds uprising, when we wanted his support vs Iran. Then we turn around and kill him. To have a nation like to US, formally the most respected in the world, associated with a internet viedo of the hanging, cheapens our reputation. Stalin and Hitler were not hanged. I wonder how history will debate the killing of Hussein.
I love your comment and It would be great to see this type of passion debated on important issues. Most of your last paragraph is correct.

Jo, You hit on an important subject, the role the media played as puppets for Bush and team.At the start of the war, you would have thought, the media were cheerleaders, which George Bush was. All the news was glorified including American deaths. What is friendly fire?If someone shoots you chances are they are not your friend. Your comment adds a lot of value toward our understanding of the big picture. Thanks
