Judge Clarence Thomas, friend or foe of black business

In the Sunday Chicago Tribune there was an article about an interview Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.Judge Thomas spoke about his days at Holy Cross University where he was a student during the later part of the 60’s. Judge Thomas is against affirmative action, and his votes have been harmful to black people.

Judge Thomas benefited from Quotas when he was appointed to the bench by  the father of our current President ,George HW Bush SR. Judge Thomas was a replacement for reverred Judge Thurgood Marshall. Judge Marshall spent his life fighting for the betterment of black people.

The Republicans and Bush Sr wanted to replace Judge Marshall with a black judge filling the quota of 1 black judge on the nations highest court. Judge Thomas’s placement on the court represents the worst aspect of quotas. The President wanted to find a black judge, who views would match the platform of the republican party and hense be harmful to black people. No easy task if being qualified was part of the plan.

Judge Thomas was nominated, and behold we found a black conservative. A very dark skinned, up from the boot straps house n word.  Judge Thomas has distanced himself from his people. In love he has a white wife, the young lawers that clerk for him are all white males.

Judge Thomas is a foe to black business and black people. His positions are harmful and still at the time we had black folk supporting him because he was black. Judge Thomas is an example of self hatred and hate of black people. A link to this interview is below.

I’ll have to take a pass on offering anything worth a damn on Thomas. I will say though that a judge should apply the law. If the law is not good enough it is not the judiciaries job to decide for us. I cannot imagine a scarier scenario (well yes, I’m sure I could), where someone appointed for life could hold sway over us all just because he or she thought this is the way it should be.

clarence thomas will always be ‘clarence thomas’ in the history books. it’s unfortunate that he always be used as a weapon against affirmative action.

the only upside is that our government is designed for three branches of power, so the voice of the people can often compete to that of one in the judicial branch.

sorry to hijack this post, but i also wanted to point your attention to another legal case that needs our publicity and action.

Blandly, your point about the judges have had a tremendous inpact on the business world. The high court is more conservative but the lower courts were also apointed during the reagan Bush years. Companies practice much more descrimination because they can

Fredic, you beat me to the punch, I read this article in the Sunday New York Times, and it is shocking even in racist Texas. All young blacks should know things have not changed that much, Readers please check out this post, again shocking

And when all the people saw it, they gave praise
to God. FaithWorks, Be Blessed always! Jesus is
the Christ, the Son of the living God. Until we
all attain to the unity of the faith, and the
knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to
the measure of the stature which belongs to the
fullness of Christ. In love, Be Blessed Everyone
so the world will know that God did send Our Lord
Jesus Christ the eternal life in God Our Father.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! So faith comes
by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ.
You must be born again! Jesus said in Our Bible.
Be Blessed always! a child of God
    Love ye one another, Amen!

Clarence Thomas isn’t a black leader, he’s a “leading black.” Somewhere down the line, he sequestered his ability as a supreme court judge from his blackness. But wait, isn’t his blackness one of the reasons why he got the job and was able to maintain it? Guess it didn’t cross his mind.

But then again, we don’t know who has a gun to his head. Leading blacks are under more pressure than average black citizens.

  7. Jim Walton Says:

Thanks for making a distinction between black leader and leading black. There is nothing wrong for a leading black not wanting to be a black leader. What is wrong is using your position to harm your race. Regarless of the term, Clarence Thomas would be offended if the word black is included
