What is a Saluki?

In the US it is the time of year referred to as March Madness. The national championship for college basketball is at stake. In my state of Illinois, the major baskeball program, The University of Illinois lost in the first round of 64 teams. Our hopes went to a so called, mid major team with a bigtime program. Southern Illinois University is known to the nations basketball fans because of their excellent play during March Madness the past several seasons.

The campus is located a little closer to Tupelo, Mississippi than Chicago. It is over a 6 hour drive and is known as a party school. My oldest son attended SiU. Notice I said attented not completed but he is a fan. This program captured the imagination of the state and could have been champ.

The chase ended for this year’s team with a lost to mighty, Kanas, the birthplace of basketball, kansas 61, SIU 58

On to the coach of SIU. A 34 year old black man, Chris Lowery. Coach Lowery has been the youngest head coach in the 64 team tournament for the 3rd year in a row.I am very proud to witness a young man with a wife and family exhibiting leadership in one of America’s most anticipated events.

This is a blog for ordinary people wanting extraordinary success. Coach fits and exceeds the goal.He graduated in 1995 with a degree in Physical Education, no easy major. He was raised in Evansville, Ind. What a role model for young students! He is showing how to use athlethic talent. he also played for the Salukis.

Many kids want to be pro athletes, and most will not. the odds are better if you study hard, and earn a degree and become a Coach like Coach Lowery. He makes around 300k, and the scholl is prepared to offer 500k with 100k signing bonus. In Carbondale, that is a lot of jack. In the open market, Coach could easily commend 1.5 million per year. He is in a win win situation. The young man is a hero and deserves to be.For more see the link below.

Demediacratic Nation

You will have to visit my man Blandly at Demediacratic nation.A man with dynamic flair and aggressive style. Being a part of the  Political Grind Network, I visit the other network authors sites.Demediacratic Nation is listed as a conservative site.Ilove to visit these sites because the conservatives are the people that put the beloved George Bush in office. I wonder how they like him now?

The king of the right wing conservatives was pictured on the cover if Time magizine with a tear in his eye, former President Ronald Reagan. America has become the most hated nation on earth and we continue to kill people over seas. We do this in the name of controlling attacks from terorists.Give me a break.

Al Gore was on the Hill yesterday singing  a verse from Hip Hop star Nelly, “it is getting hot in here, lets take off all our clothes!” It was a big hit but the conservatives do not want to take action to lessen the potential divastating  results from global warming. We have a war to fight! Check out Demediacratic nation you will enjoy.

Whom Am I Blogging For

I have been tagged for a meme by a top blogger in the world and the author of a blog of compassion and learning, Kwiz,”Women Walking in Wisdoms Footsteps. http://www.wisdomwalking.net/

I am blogging for those that have an interest in debate and have an opinion regarding business success. My target is, for ordinary people wanting extraoridinary success. We debate black issues and issues affecting black life. I have recieved  comment for people of all races and at times blog about business suggestions with no mention of race.

I am a black American and in our country, everything has to do with race. I am blessed to have life long friends of both black and white heritage. I try to use my life experiences to bring understanding how blacks in business can win. I hope debate on sensitive issues will in a small way lead to better understanding of each and more business opportunties.

In this country, we have barriers between us based on skin color. This barrier makes it hard for us to respect and trust each other. With out trust and respect business will suffer. Doesn’t it feel good when you meet a person of another race who seems to be happy with life and smiles and treats you like a human instead of dwelling on the difference of skin color. I hope together we can make a difference toward people of different races working together for a more productive society.

When I started blogging at the end of October 2006, My wish was to build a community of winners. I have not stirred away from controversy and this community continues to grow. We have close to 180 members of all races. Some very strong and well known white bloggers were among the first to endorse this blog. That says racism aside, there are white people that want to see more blacks in business.

The second part of this blog is your turn. Let me know, why do you visit blackinbusiness, what are your likes and dislikes, is this blog helpful toward generating debate, are the post helpful, what would you like to see more of, less of? Let me know I look forward to your feed back.

I think you will enjoy these 3 blogs as I do and I look forward to their confessions. Thank you Kwiz

Wealth of a White Nation, Blacks sink Deep in Hole

This is a must read for all that have an opinion on the issue of race in the states. For all the talk of progress and the black middle class, consider this; median net worth of an African American House is about 6000 dollars, while white house holds yield is 14 times as much wealth, more than 88,000 dollars!

The link below to The Black Commentator will explain the reasons for this disparity is much deeper than one may think. A common sterotype about the races is all good things reflect white and bad things black. We all know about the white lie and the black cat. White folk work hard and save, while black folk are lazy and spend. For most people both sides of this equation represents a myth. There are lazy white folk and hard working blacks. Regardless of race, few of us save enough.

The lagacy of slavery and Jim Crow discrimination plays a large role. It is no surprise white folk blame us for our low net worth, often times elite blacks also blame us. Members of the black caucus theorized wealth disparities could be eliminated by less impluse spending and careful savings.

This compelling article discusses the Reparation Act and the Homestead Act. After reading this post, I fully support the reparation act, I want my 40 acres and a mule, well maybe a Surburban..

The Homestead Act provided access to productive land and wealth for mostly white familes from the 1860’s to 1930’s. 246 million acres were provided at minimal cost.

I urge you to click on the link below and comprehend the many factors that have contributed to the wealth of a white nation. I hope you return with your comments. This is a hot topic and please do not be timid with your opinion. Keep Hope Alive!
