Save Darfur
My wife and I attended a Save Darfur rally at Chicago’s Federal Plaza. It was a well done program with speakers of many faiths. We had a Rabbi, a Priest and Ministers of Christian and Muslim religions speak. We were given nice blue baseball caps, saying “Save Darfur” as a thank you gift. This type of rally took place in 36 nations. In the US, there were 450 events in 280 cities.
The goal is to end Genocide, since 2003, 400,000 Sudanese have died and another 2.5 million have been displaced by a government-sponsored genocide in Darfur, Sudan. It is my understanding people are being killed because they are too black in color. The flag in Federal Plaza was at half mask, to recognize the murders at Virginia Tech. As Father Flager pointed out, the flag should be on the ground for the deaths in Darfur.
George Bush, leader of the free world, what you going to do?

It’s saddening how our military cherry picks conflicts based on how much oil the country has under their bedrock (and no-bid contract potential).
I just saw this video, it’s made in the spirit of MLK,

Hi Dan,it is nice to hear from someone so young. Many states are considering pulling their investments out of Sudan. Look at the link, George Bush What you going to do? take some of the data and compose a letter to your political leaders to voice your concern. Let me know how you make out.

Jim, unfortunately, it doesnt seem like G. W. is going to do anything. And just when it seems that things are beginning to cool down in Darfur, things heat up again.
There are many folks out there who I believe want to help, but don’t know how. And this is scary to me.
Someone that might be able to direct us in the right direction is Drima, who is the author of The Sudanese Thinker blog.
Drima is at http://www.sudanesethinker.com/
Also Aaron, who I was led to by Drima

To the student in RI: There is a site called save darfur that will get you in contact with events in your area.
You can also start your own group in RI. If you’re near Brown (Providence), I’m sure that there are on campus organizations with whom you can align yourself.
There are so many colleges and universities in the state. (I’m grew up in Seekonk) I’m sure you’ll find something. Also check with the Urban League. Hope that helps!
