Check out Field Negro
I loved today’s post from the Field Negro. Field Negro is a Lawyer from PA, and he is profound. I have wonder why so many of the brothers and sisters are in denial about their being on the slave ship I often use Colin Powell as an example as being in a big position but at the end of the day he found out that as a nword, his opinion did not count. Field Negro uses the same example.
Field Negro does a great job pointing out how we all still have the whip on our ass. My old company has been suffering for years, and the people have been poorly treated and yet many of the house negros try to pretend the whip is not there. They think white folk in the company like them, that they are part of the family. It is sad, white folk in the company are bitching like crazy, yet most of the brothers say all is well. They better or they will get the whip. I am sadden by it all because I was whipped as well.
What do we do? All ways keep you options open. Expect any day you could be fired. Make sure you save money. Never let your self be comfortable.Make sure your mentors are black. This is not to say, do not get advice from Whites, but never ask a white person to mentor you, unless you have known them for decades and trust them . If not you will be subjected to sharing yourself with someone that may despise most black folk. That is why we must help each other. Check out Field Negro!

I’ve learned that most blacks have this inate need to be accepted, and moreover, even LOVED by white folks.
We have the racial self-esteem of a battered woman or a child a bandoned by his farther. We want white acceptence anywhere we can get it; and bend over backwards to believe they’ve finally accepted us.
This can be seen in the undo adoration of any whites who show the most tacid affinity towards us, though it may be hollow. Look at the mystification (as termed by Frantz Fanon in The Wretched of the Earth) of the likes of Bill Clinton and Eminem.
If white folks pretend like they love us, we love them more than they love themselves.

Yobachi, your statement is powerful and true. I have seen it all my career, my Dad use to call it the white man’s Ice is colder. The Bill Clinton, who dissed Rev Jackson and Sister Soldier, cut welfare, and is more loved than Barack “is he black enough” Obama. Some black folk at my old company have fallen in love with a white executive,and ended up getting screwed. Your point is sad but true.

You can add to your Clinton list: wouldn’t sign a directive that would have practically ended racial profiling on the interstates.
LOL – I got the “white man’s ice is colder” thing from reading Carter G. Woodson’s Mis-education of the Negro. Actually that whole book is pretty snarky. He takes black folks to task in a way that these modern “progressive” blacks never would because somehow self criticism is selling out. We’re supposed to lie to ourselves and pretend our assholes don’t stink.

well put brother,we can have pride and self esteem and still find success without selling out. I have found more pleasure in work and have recieved more respect from white co workers than did the true sell outs. Over time the white sell out find out they are not loved back by white folk and like OJ and Clarence Thomas become black again for the moment

I like ” By any means necessary” and “the pigs come home to roost.” We owe it to ourselves to lead a productive life. The pigs have been sleeping and now the aftermath is unfavorable.
