Some of the most admired business people are members of the Italian Mob. Being a native of New York, I learned the Mafia did not exist and should not be referred to in polite company. In Chicago the mob is referred to as the Outfit. Admit it, these guys are cool. Nice suits, flair, good eats and no one fucked with them. I have seen Al Capone picture all over town here and many rappers take the names of Mafia Dons. I remember the excitement over Godfather one the movie, and how about the Soprano’s last show. Even Bill and Hillary got in on the act.
A major trial started yesterday in Cook County Court. It is my understanding the Prosecutors in their opening reviewed the history of the Mob in Chicago going back to Capone. It had to be fascinating. One story I heard was when Tony Acardo was the head of the mob , he came back from vacation and found his house was broken into. Talk about dumb, I don’t know what happen to the robbers but no one ever saw them again. The feds looked in Europe and in the Caribbean for Joey” The Clown” Lombardo. Mr. Lombardo was a fugitive for 9 month. He was captured across the street from a suburban police station where he had been living. This week the day prior to the opening of the trail, a fake bomb was found in the home of the son of a reputed mobster and defendant.
This is not TV or the movies but real life and real people. I cannot believe it is not Televised. This will be much more exciting than Cubs vs. Sox. This trial is so big it has a name, Family secrets. The prosecution has a star witness Nick Calabrese who is suppose to testify against his brother . The trail is projected to last 3 months.
Here are a couple of blogs to try, I am sure you will enjoy.

“Africa, Ready for Business” - great find JD.
I lived in NY for four years and heard very little about “the mob”, hence I am quite uninformed on the subject of organized crime.

Cooper, I remember names like, Joey Gallo,John Goti and many others. At one time there were 5 major families in the New York mob, big news during the late 60’s and early 70’s

Good Looking Out Bro. I really appreciate that.
Also, I guess someone must feel that there is too much at stake in the way of damaging and embarrasing testimonies. When we we’re talking about the mob there is no telling whose dirt will be uncovered.
