Black Women, Could new Mr. Right be white?

I came across an article in Sunday’s Sun Times on recent trends in black women dating. It appears some black women are dating outside our race. This is a black in business issue because the women quoted in the article, struggled to meet professional black men. We are just not good enough, if we are God fearing, hard working, drug free and faithful. We have to be professional as well. My father was a good husband for over 50 years to an educated black woman, and he worked in the mines.
There was a time when black women were the property of white men and the date consisted of rape. How comfortable are the holidays with the black family members on her side that have been victimized by racism caused by white men. How about his white family members that may think of their new sister as a nigger, how much fun will they be to celebrate with..
The message for us brothers, is to get ourselves together, many more black women are attending and finishing college and want a professional man. I think some have wanted a whit man all their lives. The article talks about meeting your mate in college. I went to college at the state University in the whitest state in America. I have married twice and both of my wives have been black.
It is true we have more young men in the prison system than in college, and supposedly many more living down low. It has to hard on these young women. I hope this trend is a last resort for black women and a wake up call to brothers that may be wasting their lives so much, that now our beloved sisters are rejecting us for the slave master’s kin. It just is not right. Please see the link to Dionne Walkers column on this topic. Let’s discuss this and the causes for it. Is it good or bad? My brother married a white woman, and I have seen this phenomenon up close!

Are You Black Enough, Am I, Is Obama, who cares?

The cover story in Sunday’s Chicago Sun Times was on the topic of Is Michele Obama Black enough! Mrs. Obama is a Ivy League educated attorney and the wife of presidential candidate, Barrack Obama. Senator Obama is being questioned on the authenticity of his blackness. As he says, when is he trying to get a cab in Manhattan, he knows he is black enough.
I have been told I talk proper, that on the phone some people may not know I am black. My children have been ridiculed because they did not go to the laundry mat or ride city buses. What dose it mean too be black enough. Why were some blacks so supportive of Clarence Thomas when he was accused of sexual harassment. Is he black enough? How about our first black President, Bill Clinton, Is he black enough, is his wife.
Many blacks love Oprah, Is she black enough. Ms Mitchell points this question is not about color but rather class. Can you be very successful and still understand black life. The black experience is a rich diverse one and my assumption is this is a question being asked to justify support of a white woman rather than a black man. Many folks are supporting Hillary. We need to be very proud of the Obama family and show our support.
I am proud to be black, but even prouder to be successful and black. Black enough? You are damn right. I bet the Senator and his family feel the same. Please check Mary Mitchell’s interview with Mrs. Obama and come back with your comment.

Do you have good credit

Why do loan companies want to know your race. being credit worthy can be an issue for many black families. I am convinced the credit scores take into account one’s race. That is never a good thing when you are black. We often have to get started in life with little or no funds.God forbid if you forget to pay your Gap bill on time.
I have a bad attitude about the fairness in credit lending.True story, A smug white banker at CitiBank, rufused to allow me to open an account because of my credit score. I think this practice is no longer allowed, but there was a period of time when a bank would check your credit score prioe to allowing you to open an account.I had just cashed in some stock options and had a check for 400,000 dollars and some change.
I did not argue, but I felt if this young banker was going to let his feelings about race interfere with a 400,000 dollar desposit. I felt sorry for the bank. You will never convince me that if a white man with the same credit score and check amount, wanted to open the account, he would have had a problem. In fact, he would have been introduced to the highest ranking bank officier available and been made to feel of value.
I found a blog of interest on improving credit, check it out! Please excuse my poor spelling in this post, I wanted you to have this resourse and did not have a spell check on the computor I am using.

Several months ago I received a nice email from Tarik regarding my post on “25 ways to know you are black in corporate America!” He shared some of his research on black wealth with me that lead to another post. I am making a prediction; this young man is on his way to greatness. He attends a Ivy League college, blogs and is an example of a black man with a cause. In Tarik’s case, the cause is to make something of his life. I am sharing the about page from his blog. Please let me know about more young role models.

Mayor Daley, not your father’s Chicago!

We have Rev. Jesse Jackson, Minister Farrakhan, Presidential canidate Obama and now Rev. Sharpton is coming to town. Mayor Daley, it is not your fathers Chicago! There are 2 brothers that have made impressive runs for President and one that is currently running. Minister Farrakhan is received like a world leader in many parts of the world. Mayor Daley, your father knew how to keep black people in line. You need to watch your back.
Al Sharpton announced yesterday he is setting up shop in Chicago with his Chicago chapter of the national Action Network. The head of the Chicago chapter is Jerri Wright, daughter of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the esteemed Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ. Trinity is one of Chicago’s most impressive churches and the church attended by Senator Obama. For many affluent black Chicagoans, it is the church to be seen in.
Rev. Sharpton felt his presence is needed because Daley has been getting a free pass on the corruption and police misconduct. A number of police officers have embarrassed the city by beating up innocent civilians. You may have watched the video of a 300 lb cop brutality beating up a woman bartender. Some schools of thought feel Rev. Jackson has gotten soft on Daley because of political and business interest in his family. I think Rev. Jackson has done a stellar job but he and Sharpton together will provide a one two punch for fairness that will be hard to ignore. Stay tuned. For reaction see the link to Mark Brown’s column.
