The Campaign Trail

As black business people we need to pay close attention to the campaign trail. It is a moving target from Hillary’s inevitable nomination to Barack’s winning New Hampshire by a big margin .Since the primary we have viewed the stunning to some, transformation of the anointed first black President, Bill Clinton, to just another southern hillbilly redneck racist. Now we have the former Chairman of BET and billionaire, Bob Johnson symbolically calling Obama a nigger.
There is a business lesson here for blacks in corporate America. When white folks want to get you, they usually can find a black to join forces with. No matter how long you have been doing well, if you become a threat, the white corporate people that love you now, will recruit a house nigger, to help bring you down. Just think how close Bill and Hillary would be to Barack if he was not running for President.
The facts are, Clinton has a lot of black support and may even receive more of the black vote than Barack. If that happened it would be distasteful and disgraceful but perhaps some people see the Junior Senator from New York as the best option.
It is a deep thing to look at the evolution of black America since the end of slavery. In many ways we are still held slave economically but many blacks are held slave from emotion and in mentality. In some cases there is a unrelenting love for white people. That is what surprised me about Oprah’s support of Barack.Rumor has it Oprah has received a lot of criticism from white women for her support of Obama.
I will give Bob Johnson credit; at least we know where he stands. Just like we know where Magic Johnson stands, with the Clintons. How about one of Chicago’s biggest celebrity endorsers, Michael Jordan, the man who refused to help Harvey Gantt in his senate campaign vs. racist Jesse Helms in Jordan’s home state. Michael uttered the unreal comment, Republicans buy sneakers too. He has a new anniversary Air Jordan priced at 230 dollars. Could you imagine Barack and Michael on the campaign? How about Tiger Woods, who felt the white woman golf anchor joke about lynching him was of no concern, whose side is Tiger on. Tiger like Mike is on Nike’s side and do not want to upset the slave masters
These examples are used to exhibit our unrelenting love of white folk. If some of our richest and most powerful are determined to not upset master, what does that say for the rest of us?
The examples will say it is bad business, I say, having a black President, will be good business for blacksinbusiness. It is time for black voters to stand together, draw a line in the sand, and make a point to vote black and let the world know we are not weak minded anymore! Our Time Has Come!

    JD,

You bring up some really good points. This whole thing between Obama and Clinton started to get big when she found out Obama was actually a threat. I’ve always thought he should have waited and let Clinton have her chance, but having the both of them in the running makes it a lot more interesting.

I guess it is all about the dollar when it comes down to it.

Theo, thanks for the comment. It makes this campaign year facinating. The risk Obama avoided by running now, is the Iron was hot and time may have cooled it off.

“There is a business lesson here for blacks in corporate America. When white folks want to get you, they usually can find a black to join forces with.”

    Yep, ain’t that for real.

    This is very poignant:

“In many ways we are still held slave economically but many blacks are held slave from emotion and in mentality. In some cases there is a unrelenting love for white people.”

It goes to the issue of mystification that I wrote about last week: http://www.blackperspective.net/index.php/michael-baisden-and-the-mystification-of-the-negro/

Tiger Woods’ comments would have been shocking if not so predictable. As Nas said, he’s a victim of “the mental poison that’s even worse than drugs.”

Jordan is nothing but a business man; a very selfish man, and it’s why I’ve never cared for his duplicitous ass.

  4. Yobachi Says:

Theo, why did you ever think Clinton was owed the right to be the nominee for president?

If she wants a chance, she has to earn it; or apparently race bait for it.

Yobachi, I encourage readers to visit your site and learn for themselves why your blog is tops. Thanks for coming by.

I was at the dentist office today and asked a sister, Hillary or Barack and she was pensive and then said Barack’s experience will hurt him. That is when I got called back to the chair and we could not finish. Barack had to run now, this is his moment

I always thought that Clinton (and the majority of the white Democratic party) was lying to Black America to use and manipulate them. It’s a relief to see you question Clinton as well, JD.

Barack is skyrocketing in my book. A man of conviction who’s not afraid to confront and let people know his convictions. He doesn’t apologize for what he believes, and doesn’t change his mind when the winds blow.

Hillary is definitely on the Barack-Attack now that she sees him as a threat. She scares me… and I usually don’t care for politics.

It will be a great moment in history in this country to elect a Black man to the highest office! I hope and pray that whites will look beyond color in this election.

Perhaps then you and your readers will understand some of us really do respect you as our brothers and sisters in Christ. Even us fat, white conservatives!

    :)

Doug, you left out good looking when describing yourself. There are a lot of good questions regarding the Democratic Party’s treatment of blacks. The Republicans are the party of Linclon but show little interest in gaining black support. Doug you have my respect and that of many black readers because of your view of the world.
