We know Hillary Voted for The War, Do You Know Her Stance On The 1964 Voters Rights Bill?
I recieved this article from a friend. Read with Purpose!
> NEWS FLASH ! (SPREAD THE WORD)
> Hillary Was AGAINST the Civil Rights Act of 1964
> While a Republican and “Goldwater Girl”
>
>
> A March 12, 2007 article written by acclaimed
> Washington columnist Robert Novak sheds a very
> revealing light on the true sentiment of Hillary
> Clinton during the peak of the Civil Rights
> Movement. Clinton recently was found to have
> minimized the great and monumental strides taken by
> Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by stating that it was
> Lyndon B. Johnson, then president, who should
> receive the credit for the civil rights progress
> including the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
>
>
> In an attempt to attract black support Hillary
> Clinton regularly shares her ‘civil rights
> experience’ during every speech given to black
> audiences. Novak writes of one such speech at
> Selma’s First Baptist Church on the 42nd
anniversary
> of the “bloody Sunday” freedom march there, where
> Sen. Clinton declared: “As a young woman, I had the
> great privilege of hearing Dr. King speak in
> Chicago. The year was 1963. My youth minister from
> our church took a few of us down on a cold January
> night to hear [King]. . . . And he called on us, he
> challenged us that evening to stay awake during the
> great revolution that the civil rights pioneers were
> waging on behalf of a more perfect union.” But
> Novak’s article states that there’s a big problem
> with her statement.
>
>
> The fact is, in 1963, not only was Hillary Clinton
> a republican, but she was also a staunch supporter
> of republican Senator Barry Goldwater, well known as
> a segregationist and one of the most vocal senators
> adamently against the passing of the Civ il Rights
> Act of 1964, which is why he lost in his
>
; presidential bid to Lyndon B. Johnson. Novak writes
> “…how then could she be a ‘Goldwater Girl’ in the
> next year’s presidential election?” He continues,
> “…she described herself in her memoirs as ‘an
> active Young Republican’ and ‘a Goldwater girl,
> right down to my cowgirl outfit.’
>
>
> Novak adds, “As a politically attuned honor
> student, she must have known that Goldwater was one
> of only six Republican senators who joined Southern
> Democratic segregationists opposing the historic
> voting rights act of 1964 inspired by King. Hillary
> headed the Young Republicans at Wellesley College.
> The incompatibility of those two positions of 40
> years ago was noted to me (Novak) by Democratic
> old-timers who were shocked by Sen. Clinton’s
> temerity in pursuing her presidential candidacy.”
> ; Novak adds, “What Hillary Clinton said at Selma is
> significa
nt because it betrays her campaign’s
> panicky reaction to the unexpected rise of Sen.
> Obama as a serious competitor for the Democratic
> nomination.
>
> Clinton’s plans were transformed by the advent of
> Obama, an African-American threatening the hard
> allegiance of black voters forged by Bill Clinton.
> On one hand, the Clinton campaign has attacked Obama
> and his supporters. On the other hand, she has
> sought to solidify her civil rights credentials.
>
> While Clinton was re-inventing her past, her road
> to the White House is not going as planned. Instead
> of a steady procession to coronation at the Denver
> convention, she is involved in a real struggle
> against credible opponents led by Obama. No wonder
> she and her handlers were tempted to imply the
> existence long ago of a young lady in Chicago’s
> suburbs who never really existed.”
>
&g
t; We greatly appreciate Mr. Novak’s findings which
> bring one main thought to mind. Wake up Black
> America! DON’T BE FOOLED ! The fact is, despite her
> falsehoods, Hillary was AGAINST the passing of the
> Civil Rights Act of 1964 that Dr. Martin Luther King
> died for. As a ‘Goldwater Girl’ she was actually
> even against Lyndon B. Johnson, the very person she

Wow, this is some great stuff to repost. I knew that she was a republican and only switched becasue Bill was a democrat, a southern democrat, aka Dixiecrat; and I knew she was a Goldwater Girl; but I didn’t know about Goldwaters particular opposition to voting rights.
This article talks about some of that same stuff with a quote from Malcolm X at the end about the Dixiecrat/Deomcrat con game: http://www.blackperspective.net/index.php/obama-and-clinton-truce-the-ballot-or-the-bullet/ and how not only they opposed voting rights; but Johnson was playing games trying to avoid it as well.
Man, Clinton is just such a liar. We need to find out about this thesis.

This race is going to get dirty and in regards to the Clintons, black America may discover a side to the Clintons that will remind us of why we need to come together and support barack. Thanks for coming by.

I can’t say that I’m surprised, even though that’s not the Hillary that we’ve been presented with. I have always accepted the fact that Hillary does what she “needs” to do accomplish her agenda.
I’ve also known that Hillary gets a lot of love from us because of Bill, not on her own steam. I don’t know if we would have ever even looked her way without her being attached to Bill.
Additionally, white politicians saying what they think we want to hear to curry favor with our community for the sole purpose of getting our vote is as old as the hills.
Hillary is starting to show her true colors and they aren’t very pretty.

Shelia, I do think Hillary was changed by Dr. King and attending college back east.At the end of the day, white folk are white folk, and the Clintons know how to communicate to white folk in code and how to tell us what we want to hear. She has been an effective Senator but is now in the fight of her life. I bet republicans would rather compete with her than Obama

Unfortunately Hillary is very skilled in the art of APPEARANCES she can appear to be what the white folks want and she can also appear to be what the black folks need. It is up to us all as individuals to do our own research on all of the candidates and make an informed decision. We can not afford to by swayed by appearances, race, or star power!
Blessings!

Dems To Battle Over Black Vote is front page stuff at huffpost, another headline is Mike Huckabee’s White Supremacist Links, but that’s to be expected.
I think Greg Jones could contribute this article to huffpost, or DemocraticUnderground.com, the purpose of the primaries is to cross check all the candidates, and nothing should be left out.

Obama appears ready to tackle a job which will keep him much busier than the Presidency. Talking about Hillary’s disbarred hubby’s most recent falsehoods, he said:
“This has become a habit, and one of the things that we’re going to have to do is to directly confront Bill Clinton when he’s making statements that are not factually accurate,” Obama said.
If Obama is going to confront Bill every time he lies, he will be a very, very busy man.

I’m one of the still undecided, but I always question articles such as this. How is seeing Dr King speak when she was a republican reinventing her past? I’m definitely democratic, but tried to get in to see Bush when he visited my state and (horrors!) watch Fox News on occasion. I also don’t always agree with everything the democratic party supports. Just because many Republicans didn’t support this law doesn’t mean that she didn’t believe in the Civil Right Act. Maybe her switching parties had more to do with her changing beliefs, in addition to marrying Bill. I know my husband could never convince me to join his Republican party and he tried mighty hard!
I think both parties are taking the other words and twisting them. The fact is the changes Dr King fought and died for would not have happened without a president to sign them into law. We need a strong president to help bring about change. That’s the way this country works and maybe that’s the point Hillary was trying to make.

JD - What an inflammatory and down right ‘righteous’ article! I was totally in the dark about this. Might I repost this on one of my sites to get the word out? Thanks.
Can’t this country see which party is actually keeping the poor, indigent, needy people down?
How about Bill napping in church during a tribute to Dr. King. Here’s the link:

Reginia, I think Hillary is a good canidate and now that the race is getting personal, both front runners will be challenged to look and act Presidential. We have proven that having a Presidential image dose not matter, ie George Bush.My vote goes to Barack

Jo, thanks for dropping by. This is a facinating primary,

Tony, cute but true. One thing that amazed me in the corporate world was how easily white men would lie and how seldom it mattered.
January 23rd, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Ebony, thanks for commening, the fact Hillary changed parties,is not a big deal. She is overstating her experience, and will say what ever to get elected.I will vote for Barack because he will be best for black America’s fight toward racial equality.
January 23rd, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Morgan, maybe Hillary has him up late at night honeymooning!!! Thanks for the visit

“Tony, cute but true. One thing that amazed me in the corporate world was how easily white men would lie and how seldom it mattered.”
Most CEOs will never say the truth about business outlook, they communicate by making heads roll.
In today’s news, One Lie is Okay, 935 Lies = War, http://seattlest.com/2008/01/23/one_lie_is_okay.php
How many times did cnn or other big networks said “Bush Lied”, never! There is zero accountability. Zero consequences for this Criminal-in-chief.

How could we elect Hillary? That would be an anathema to everything that is right and holy. I’m not suggesting that a woman shouldn’t be president, but Hillary?
Whom would she choose to be vice-president - she wouldn’t choose Barack because she hates him and wouldn’t that be a slap in the face of all the Black voters and it would piss off the Hispanics to no end. She could elect herself as vp. and then she’d have all her bases covered.
Can anyone truly believe that the Clinton’s give a damn about any class of people, regardless of their stripe? They’ll lie, cheat and steal to get back into power and if they do, you’ll see that what they promised was only a ruse.
Have all of you forgotten the 8 years of Clintonarama? Think back and tell me - were you any better off after the 8 years Clinton served - and be honest with yourself.
I seriously doubt it.
Of all the democratic candidates that are running, I feel Barack is the best choice. I truly believe that he wants to heal this country - and to all of those who say he’s too young and has no experience - well, what experience do the rest of the slate have? Baracks only challenge is to surround himself with a cadre of people who will lift us out of the miasma in which we find ourselves today.
And that’s coming from a dyed-in-the-wool Republican.
Peace.

There are a lot of reasons not to support Hillary Clinton for the presidency (and likewise, a lot of reasons not to support Barack Obama), but it’s plumb silly to condemn her for still being in the process of figuring out her politics when she was 16 or 17.
I’m not a fan either, but come on. Let’s not be ridiculous here.
And the fact that the information comes from Robert Novak stinks too. He means Democrats and progressives no good.
