It Is Over, Not Only Will Obama Be The Democrat Choice, He Will Be Our Next President!

I received an ipod as a gift recently. One of the first songs I had downloaded was, “A House Is Not a Home,” by Luther. Let use the first verse as a metaphor to help my argument, Barack will be sworn in as US President, January 09.
“A Chair is still a chair, even if there is no one sitting there!” Think of a chair representing the US Presidency. There has been no one sitting there for the past 7 plus years of the son of a Bush Presidency; no one for Black Americans, poor and middle class Americans, the countries of France, Venezuela, North Korea, Iran and much of the world. There is no one there for homeless Americans, families with out health insurance, Immigrants from Mexico, and now no one there for the 70% of Americans that feel the President is doing a poor job.
“But a house is not a home if there is no one home to love you.” Black Americans and other disenfranchised citizens under stand; the United States is a house but not a home. The Presidency of Barack will change all that. The “ROW” aka, rest of the world, will see the United States in a different light with a Obama Presidency, and it will be a positive light. Black American’s will finally have a homeland we can take pride and hopefully share in the rewards of the so called “American Dream!”
Let the healing begin, I for one enjoyed the Clinton Presidency, Think, “Peace and Prosperity!” Did you receive your January portfolio statement yet? Sit down before you open it. All this republican bs about the war on terror being won have missed the true war. The World Trade Centers reflected the economic might of the U.S. Are you better off today than you were 7 years ago? Our new President will need an economic plan to help the masses, trickle down does not work.
Let’s give Hillary a shout out. She is an excellent Senator and would have improved the Presidency. Her campaign has been run well under intense pressure. Hillary should return to my birth state of New York and evolve into a senior matriarch of the Democrats and a key advisor to president Obama.
There has been a tendency to bury the Clintons, the war is won, and let us embrace them the way Barack has already started.
John McCain, yesterday’s war hero, never surrender, fight 100 years if necessary, 72 years old. If Barack made baby boomers seem like yesterday’s news, what will he do to McCain?
I am proud of Barack, but will be even more proud of America if our brother wins. Al Sharpton was interviewed last night and seemed stunned over Barack easy win in the Potomac Primary. Al could have, should have, if he would have been on the train. The train of the Obama Presidency has left the station and Al is not on it. Rev. Sharpton, Rep. Rangel, Ambassador Young, Rep Walters, we love you and your work on behalf of black people, but the fact is, Barack won’t need your endorsement. You need to figure something out to save face or you may become obsolete.
In closing, a Black President will be good for America. Think this, he has lived on foreign soil , is biracial, raised in Hawaii and Kansas, blossomed in Chicago’s south side, educated at Harvard, married to a Ivy League graduate and has 2 young children. The United States is no longer black and white, red and blue or the haves and have not’s. It is one America and only one man can bring it all together, the right man. Think of the options, we all know who that man is; next President of the United States, Barack Obama. Keeping Hope Alive. This is history, let me hear your voice!

I told you all so!!!!!!!! http://unitedblackamerica.blogspot.com/2008/01/beginning-of-new-age.html
and I wrote that back on January 5th!

  2. Hello, Negro Says:

LOL LOL LOL! Very clever use of Luther Vandross Lyrics. I agree, the chair has been more than vacant!

  3. JD Says:

Demitrius, many of the political experts are taking a wait and see outlook untill Texas and Ohio, but I am on board!

  4. Jim Walton Says:

Hello Negro, thanks for your comment and hopefully change will fill the chair

  5. Douglas Karr Says:

Though I don’t agree with all his policies, this will be a historic moment for this country and I’ll be proud to have him as president. I hope that it helps to finally put down racism as unacceptable once and for all.

On the humorous side, when Barack assumes the Presidency, do I get to say “the man is holding me down?” Kidding of course, I know we have a long way to go!

Next question (not humorous): If Hillary pulls out all the stops and uses her political authority to strong-arm superdelegates, there’s a chance that Barack will WIN the popular vote but not win the delegate vote. After all the crap with Bush/Gore, won’t that be ironic? I’m praying that it won’t happen, but I wouldn’t underestimate the Clinton’s hunger for power.

Good luck! It’s important that we all encourage everyone to vote in such a historic election!

  6. JD Says:

Doug, Thanks for your message, I know some of the super delegates and if barack kills hillary with a huge popular vote advantage, if would be political death for the delegates to vote against the people’s choice. If it is close, then they may pull it off. You could never say the man is holding you down because of your success in life, I know you have worked hard, but hopefully having a black President will level the playing field

  7. Douglas Karr Says:

You bet, Jim. I’ve definitely been successful and know that others haven’t had the same opportunities that I have had. I look forward to a day when we know in our hearts that everyone has equal opportunity and it doesn’t require government intervention to make it happen!

I really was just trying to be funny, though. I apologize if anyone took offense! I may have to work on my humor. :)

  8. JD Says:

Doug you are funny, here is one for you; a young teacher took a position in a inner city school, she became frustrated and one day said, everyone is capable of learning, if anyone here feels they are too dumb to learn, please stand up; after a period of time with no one standing, little Dougie in the back of the room stood, the young teacher said, Dougie, do you think you are too dumb to learn? Dougie said, no Mrs Jones, I just felt sorry for you standing up all by yourself!!!

  9. Yobachi Says:

Nice use of analogy and pop cultural reference; but I don’t think for a second that simply having black faces in high places (even if it’s the highest place) will all of a sudden make this our home; for reason I’ve previously ennumerated and I think you’ve read.

And personally, I have no reason to embrace the clinton’s because I have no use for them. I’m going to continue shoveling all the dirt that I can onto thier political grave. They made thier bed with their slash and burn politics, now they can lay in it.

  10. Douglas Karr Says:

    Love it, JD! :)

  11. JD Says:

Yobachi, your point is strong and significant.I do think to have racist looking toward a black man as the only hope is historic. To have a blackman dominate the news in a postive way, shows our society a different side of black life than most see. Barack is not Ms Rice or Judge Thomas, and I hope you are aware of that. he is more than just a black face. We may find that his hand are tied and that we will still be outsiders looking in the window, but compare that to McCain. Like I asked you on your blog, who should we vote for? Thanks for a compelling comment. As a native New Yorker, I have heard Hillary has done a good job in the Senate.

  12. JD Says:

    Thanks Doug!

  13. Jim Legington Says:

It is one America and only one man can
bring it all together, the right man.
Next President of the United States,
    Barack Obama. Keeping Hope Alive.

You know here is a great time
of unity for the United States and
throughout the world. Now Is the
time, the content of this post is
rich JD. This is healing for unity
in our country that can spread the
love of God like wild fire. And we
must uphold the Institution of Marriage
that is blessed by God for Male and Female.
God Is Love, God Is Good, God Is One.
    Be Blessed always…Peace!
Can We agree, Peers of Love…Win?

  14. Shelia Says:

It does appear that Hillary’s goose is cooked, LOL!

I am so proud of the way that Barack and Michelle have conducted this campaign, how they’ve represented American and our community, it’s all been such a blessing.

If things continue to go the way that we obviously believe that they will, Hillary is really going to regret having had Bill come off like gang busters.

  15. cooper Says:

The super delegate situation concerns me only in as much as I’ve always known that the party chooses the candidate not the people. Now how the party can dis the people and not face revolution is beyond me. The ace of course should be over.

  16. Yobachi Says:

Oh, I’m voting for Obama JD; as a matter of fact I already did in the primaries.

I’m just saying again, we have to keep the moment into perspective. It’s a nice advance in the social and body politic that much of general society is looking to a Black man for hope; but we shouldn’t be declaring that we’ve finally overcome because of it.

  17. Evelyn Says:

I so hope you’re right! I don’t care about color, sex, or party… I vote based on the person. I’m looking for someone who is genuine and who really seems to care. For me, it’s all about what’s on the inside!

In addition, I’m not feeling any level of trust with what’s her name — just the opposite in fact. For the record, I’m white and female… of course I’m also in Hawaii so I guess that’s cheating, but too bad! :) I think Obama is “real” and that’s what matters!

  18. MorganLighter Says:

    JD,
As always another post that informs and makes us think and the same time. I’m not kissing your ass just buttering you up.
It is incredible that people can’t see that Hillary, if her last name wasn’t Clinton, would be a nobody. Doesn’t anyone out there know that the Clintons are so desperate to get back to the seat (chair) of power because without status and authority which the Presidency holds they’d lose all they hold near and dear. They don’t give a rip about the blacks, the latinos, the whites, or the ROW, their only concern is themselves.
The saying goes, If you don’t know your history then you’re condemned to repeat it - and I do not want to relive another 4-8 years of the Clintonians. It wasn’t they who ushered in years of prosperity, they were ridding on the coattails of the Reagan/Bush eras. Seriously. Don’t believe what the media says - we all know they distort the truth.
Another concern I have is - should Barack ascend to the Presidency, can he accomplish what you laid out in your post? Not that he isn’t willing, but will he have the horses behind him to actually achieve that which he ‘promises’ to do.
Yobachi, said pretty much the same thing and I agree with his thinking on this - in both comments.
Every day I pray that this country will come to their senses - but there are too many selfish, ignorant and plainly hateful people out there for this to happen any time soon. I don’t hope for it, as hope gets you nowhere - it’s prayer and actions, positive actions that make things happen.
    Peace.

  19. JD Says:

Rev. Jim, how are you? The love of God gives us hope for a better tomorrow and it appears barack is one to bring us together. Thanks for coming by.

  20. JD Says:

Shelia, Mr. amd Mrs Obama seem to be a team and have a lot of class and compassion. Thanks for droping by.

  21. JD Says:

Cooper, the super delegates are starting to shift toward barack. if he continues to win big, they will want to be on the band wagon

  22. JD Says:

Yobachi, we are on the same page, and if Barack becomes President, it will be a lot to ask for him to solve all our ills and represent all of the people. My hope is that he will try, in the past we have faithfully given our vote and got little help in return

  23. JD Says:

Morgan, you mean Bill Clinton, does not feel our pain? Hillary does not care about the people? I think you are right and the word is because of barack, more Americans than ever I taken a interest in this election. I question the Reagun Bush impact on the Clinton success because not just the very wealthy did well. Thanks for your detailed comment

  24. Jim Walton Says:

Evelyn, thanks for stopping by.hawaii is one of Barack’s homes and influences in life. His life experiences are what gives him a different vantage point than most people in politics.

  25. regina Says:

I love your use of a Luther Vandross classic! However, I do not want everyone to celebrate to quickly even though we all know who SHOULD be President. We know how things “go wrong” in government…
Barack has the opportunity to be the people’s champion and could very well turn this world around but he has to first win the presidency.

I find it a little sad that some Black leaders are not backing him but then again jealousy is a powerful deterent.

  26. Claude Says:

    No doubt!

And, if I might add …

    … a court is not a court:

    http://blackfivesblog.com/?p=315

    Obama for Baller-In-Chief!

  27. JD Says:

Regina, you are right, there is still a ways to go, and most responsible people would not predict so soon. Never less, I think, Barack will go all the way. The one thing, I did not consider, being black, he cannot have any thing like Bush and Chaney ’s dui’s surface. That would do him in. Thanks for commenting

  28. JD Says:

Claude, I urge my visitors to visit your site for some great post of interest. I second the nomination

  29. Vanessa Says:

Great use of Luther! LOL I do pray that Obama will be President.

  30. Jim Walton Says:

    Thanks Vanessa!

  31. Ellen Weber Says:

Graet discussion and many interesting angles of leadership covered. Added to the interesting insights here –I think we have to look past the tone that takes so many people and leaders down in our country.

On the opposite of attack is the brilliance we starve for and other nations criticize us for.

It’s time to choose a great leader (whatever race, gender or background) that will bring people together, and to use our own tone and support of people - to help that happen.

It’s so easy to trash one side as a way to lift up another — but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Whichever leader wins — it will really be the US people (that’s each of us) to add greatness to this diverse country. We are desparate for that leader and that tone of building goodwill among Americans.

My 2-bits added to a refreshing discussion. Thanks Jim and all!

  32. Jen, writer MembershipMillionaire.com Says:

Although America is not my country, there’s no doubt that whoever finds himself on that presidential throne is going to affect the world. If Obama wins (and I sincerely hope he does), maybe he can take his country to a better direction than the one it is in now. It’s time for a real change. He’s an inspiration to many. Under his charge, maybe the rest of the nation will be inspired as well.

  33. JD Says:

Ellen, you have a way of putting all of this in perspective. I have to agree and am watching with interest. Thanks for the comment

  34. Jim Walton Says:

Jen, thanks so much for giving us an international vantage point. I see the US relations with the rest of the world improving if Barack is our President

  35. Jason Pearson Says:

I agree, it sure looks like he will be the Democratic candidate in November. Look how far our country has come.

  36. Jim Walton Says:

Jason, we have made progress and I hope that this progress will provide a benchmark toward a better understanding of each other and thus a better America. Thanks for your comment

  37. Ray Says:

Our Country has improved we still have a ways to go I believe we can do it.Do I have any witnesses on this blog
