For Democrats, The Tide has Changed
Business People, there is a lot we can learn from this years Presidential Democratic Primary Season. If you own a business or work for a large company, the campaign of Barack Obama provides hope. I love politics but this year has been like none other. In 1984 and 88, we were excited and proud of Rev. Jackson’s historic run for President. With out the precedent being established by Rev. Jackson that led to changes in how delegates are awarded, Barack would not be ahead today.
Having said that, we knew Jesse could not win. Barack can and will win the nomination and remains a solid choice in the general election. For that reason, more democrats than ever are involved in the primary, providing campaign funds, and following the daily pundits.
After the Potomac Primary, I boldly predicted, Barack would be our next President. My 25 year old son, who has a more positive outlook on race relations than I, reminded me, I said America would never elect a black President in my life time.Barack is different, he was able to transcend race. That is until recently. He has become the black canidate, a black elitist, which up until now, I thought in white America, was an oxymoron.
The race for President is all about power, and the access to it. White folk may be able to handle an Ivy League educated half white non treating Black President. What has happened, Bill Clinton brilliantly began in South Carolina to make Barack the Black canidate.
After the distinguished Rev. Wright episode, Barack is seen as a treat. People like Rev. Wright and other blacks could have access to power. The small donors that average 90 dollars a donation have prove more important to this campaign than the traditional fat cats. This means they could lose their all important access to power.
If you are left to wonder, why the coverage suddenly seems so bias in reporting against Obama, it is about power. His campaign of change represents a change in power brokers. For some reason, this morning my understanding of the pundit’s message is the tide has changed and Hillary may be the nominee. I finaly had to put ESPN on for some sanity.
Business people of color, if you ascend to a position of power, and have to interface with whites in business, they may accept your color. The potential they will become angry when they witness others of color having access to your power is real. It will make you a treat to their normal lives.
Now the train has left the station. The transcending race thing is of the past, I saw on Morning Joe this morning, 17 % percent of Pa voters said race matters. Why, Catholics appear to have a problem supporting Barack, why, the case is being made Barack can not win. This is no accident. If you are black in America, unless you know your place, or be a Tom, race always matters. It is the only chance Hillary has.
Wake up America, we need Barrack’s leadership. He is the only chance we have for this nation to return to greatness. Keep Hope alive.!

I agree that some people inevitably will see the ascension of Barack Obama as a threat, and they’re reacting to that.
Thankfully, because Hillary is a liberal woman, the threat of her election is also a threat to the white male supremacy paradigm. So, that lessens the heat that Barack Obama is getting right now.
Have a look at an article I posted, entitled, “Why Did Gov Brad Henry (OK) Just Endorse Obama?”

After the Pennsylvania loss, some people feel sick and fatigue at Hillary’s win. Everyone hoped that the race would be closer to being over. Now it looks like a very long haul to Denver. So as not to underestimate the enemy, we must be prepared to win by ONE VOTE.

I decided a couple weeks ago that I was sick and tired of this campaign and of hillary. I decided to give politics a rest until we get a little closer to the end.

ESQ Holland, your point is why they could never run together, A Black and a woman, America is not ready. What Senator Obama has accomplished is amazing,I may be wrong but I think America could accept a woman more so than a Black.

Eddie, we have come to far not to fight and win! Thanks for the comment

Regina, I have cut back on blogging on potitics, but I have noticed the things Barack is dealing with, Black business people do as well. Thank you for your comment

I hope no black business people thought they were exempt from the Obama treatment. It’s the first thing you run up against in the business world. (Why do I keep hearing, “Good morning, Heartaches”,

Eddie, it always shocks me but some blacks in the corporate world think they are accepted by the majority, some go so far as to stay far away from other blacks. Sad but true, thanks for the shout out

JD, in my humble opinion, the tide has not changed; it is what it has always been — Race matters. Bill Clinton and the Clinton campaign team have used race-baiting to convince the average white voters in Pennsylvania to vote for Hillary.
Obama supporters —black and white— can mobilize to expose the Clintons for the divisive, unscrupulous people that they are.
Voters must rage against the Democratic political machine that is allowing the Clintons to continue their destructive behavior.
As I am typing this, James Carville is on Larry King Live continuing his arrogant, flippant, insulting comments toward Bill Richardson. I’ve had enough of that.
We made enough noise regarding the Jena 6 issue to get folks attention; it’s time to expose the Clintons, the media and the Democratic Party leadership for who they are.
This political quagmire we find ourselves in is not all about race. Most whites and others will suffer just like blacks under a Clinton II presidency.

Good analysis JD. I’ve been telling people lately that there really is no liberal or conservative media when it comes the big media; it’s all corporate media, and like all other big corporations, all they care about is the bottom line and their corporate image. ABC, NBC, and CBS are little more than the PR offices of some of America’s biggest corporations.
I wanted to get your opinion on the following since you live in the Chi: Chicago Police Say Rash of 26 Shootings are ‘Just a given’

Vanessa, nice to hear your comment. Hillary used the tide is changing as a metaphor indicating she is now winning the race for the nomination. The Clintons were loved by Black people in general, and it will be of interest to see how and if, after Barack wins the nomination, the Clintons will repair their relationship with the community.

Yobachi, thanks for swinging by, it is now very clear, with a possible exception being the New York Times, the media wants Hillary to win.

Vanessa, You are so very right. Just today I published “Tomorrow Headlines: McCain Landslides Hillary Clinton; Democrats Go Down in Flames”. I sent it to our county chairman and all the Democrats (and some Republicans) on my email list… all for the very reason of standing by and letting the mass media and Clinton do a butcher job on Obama.

Boo, thanks, she will not win and she knows it, they are trying to change the rules

Eddie, great idea and it will ring true if they do not figure this mess out
