Rev. Wright, What’s Going On!

I hope Black business people particularly those that are young are following the Obama campaign. The road blocks coming in the way of Senator Obama’s path to the White House are there for us all to learn from. Just think, here is a brother who has done the right things. He has received a quality education from Institutions among the best in the nation. He is married and is father to 2 children; there are no whispers of womanizing, heavy drinking or arrest. Our previous President was an alleged womanizer; our current President was a drunk and a slacker. Yet our brother’s choice of Pastor has become a major campaign issue. Jimmy Carter brother was a drunk, Bill Clinton’s a drug dealer, and Reagan’s kids did not speak to him. None of this stuff mattered.
The point is, Barack had this thing wrapped upped, he won 10 states in a row. He won in white states, historically racist states, and appeared to have transcended race. It seemed as though he had it made. We never have it made and the better you do in business be aware, race can and most often become an issue for you. There are 2 sets of rules, one rule book is white and the other black.
The big corporate owned TV news coverage is ripping the Rev. Wright Issue to death. I ask you, what has this to do with 4 dollar gas prices, high food prices, credit crisis, unemployment, weak dollar, and 4000 dead soldiers over a lie, deficit spending, and dropping home prices? I do not care who Barack’s friends are. I didn’t not care Clinton was a womanizer. I did care that Bush and Chaney had arrest for drunken driving but America did not care. Why is this issue so prominent in the news? Maybe Black we have found an answer to the question? Is Barack Black enough? He is and now the establishment is trying to make him too Black.2 Sets of rules; Ronald Regan announced his quest for the Presidency in Philadelphia Mississippi. He was from California, but he choice a site where civil rights workers had been killed. That was not an issue.
I enjoyed both of Rev. Wright’s speeches; he is an brilliant man and strong orator. He spoke the truth. Having said that I have to wonder, Rev. Wright, what is going on? Rev. Wright, you had to know this would hurt Obama. You appear jealous and angry. If Barack loses, his loss will stain your legacy. What were you thinking. Somebody out there, help us understand. What do you think?

AAPP: When is the character assassination going to stop? When is the major media outlets going to stop the attacks on Obama and Wright? I’m not sure, but one thing is for sure, pictures of Rev. Wright hugging Mayor Kilpatrick at the NAACP convention don’t look good on Republican ads come the general election.

Why did the NAACP need to give him an opportunity Strike Back at this critical time in American political history? The media is already twisting it, saying, Wright is stirring up the race controversy.

It’s too bad the NAACP does not pay as much attention to the people that really need attention the victims of Dunbar Village. My question now is whether Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. trying to set up Obama? Should Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. be chilling out until after after the general election? Rev Wright and indicted Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, on the same stage. Ouch! Great picture for the Republicans. Great picture for the other real Republican - Hillary Clinton.

I think that the situation that’s messed up is not so much Rev. Wright coming out and making his speeches (which honestly aren’t terribly on any radical extreme as I see it and is a part of his freedom of speech that the U.S. supposedly gives everyone), but that Senator Obama didn’t:

    1. stand his ground and say, yes, this is my pastor and let’s REALLY get in depth with these speeches on the pulpit that were made (instead of the B.S. clips shown on mainstream media) as well pointing out some of the “interesting” comments from the other running candidates religious leaders/spiritual advisors (which Rev. Wright was suited fine for when Bill Clinton did this thing in the Oval Office w/ Ms. Lewinsky)

    2. totally cutting himself off period from the Rev. Wright

Doing the wish washy thing instead with this situation and others as of late, regardless of where the Rev. Wright stands or what he said (since before he got back to making the speeches and was being quiet, the mainstream media was STILL talking about him instead of real issues) - since let’s face it, Obama is going to be tagged for being Black and all of its inherent stereotypes one way or the other - is truly the thing that’s making him look bad.

NO time would be a prime or “good” time for the Rev. to speak in the political arena, so if he did it intelligently, I figure why not.

Once upon a time, folks could have ran a sack of potatoes for the Democratic Party’s candidate and have one against almost any Republican this year and won the presidency since G.W. Bush has messed up so royally in the past 7 years it’s retarded.

Now due to the crazy infighting and Sen. Obama’s being too much of a gentleman to really go there w/ the media and Senator Clinton (can’t win being a nice guy or an aggressive Black Man, it seems) on his issues, things could very well go the wrong way.

Sorry for my disjointed ramble and nice blog, by the way! :)

AAPP,Thanks for commenting. I read your blog often and find it very informative.2 sets of rules, I missed Mayor Kilpatrick and the hug but your point is valid. Your other point about the NAACP brings to question, who are they for? How about Jullian Bond? This award perhaps is not an accident.

DJ Fusion, thanks for your comment! You make excellent points and it would have been great if Barack had been more forceful in his support, perhaps that is the reason for Wright’s anger.Barack’s support would have hurt him but it would be over by now. This country is so racist it would be hard for Barack to be too aggresive without being typecasted into the Angry Black male sterotype. We are not allowed to show emotion but I would love to see Barack get angry and tell America what is on his mind

Beloved, Google Me - Everyone brought together in Struggle
to Love. Everything is really going to BE alright. Keep Hope
Alive, Now faith is the things hoped for and the conviction
of thing not seen. Now is the time, Senator Barack Obama
will do just fine, we all just need to continue to share
love one for another. God is Love, God Is Good, God Is One.
Now abides faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these
    is love. Be Blessed always…Peace!

  6. Villager Says:

Jim –> There are two sets of rules. Period. We simply need to understand, accept and deal with it until we get power to change it. My grandfather saw me in ‘business casual’ one day when I visited his office. He explained to me that my white counterparts could get away with ‘business casual’, however, if my intention was to advance in management … then I could never give them a reason to discount me … even a reason as unfair as dressing business casual.

His main message was that we (black folks) can never get away with the same things that white folks get away. Barack Obama understood. Rev. Wright did not understand or need to understand. Rev. Wright’s pension is paid primarily from the largesse of Black people. Obama is trying to get a job as POTUS and he needs white people. Obama needs to live with the two sets of rules (no blow jobs in the office; no drunken brothers; no crazy uncle pastors)…

    peace, Villager

I give you so much applause for this post! I agree wholeheartedly! Barack Obama deserves credit for getting someone like me that didn’t ever think the political system would ever change, encouraged to get up and vote. What are we doing to each other? I also wrote something regarding this on my blog at http://therevealedoasis.blogspot.com. Let me know what you think!

  8. Jim Walton Says:

Rev. Jim, thanks for commenting, everything was not going to be ok for Barack, without decisive action being taken, which he took. Now we can Keep Hope Alive

  9. Jim Walton Says:

Villager, what your grandfather told you my mother told me from early on. It never made that much sense untill I saw the stuff white folks can get away with in the business world. The bj’s in the office may be offered but sound judgement should intervene. Thank you for your voice

  10. JD Says:

Kei, I did visit and left a comment. Thank you for your comment and I hope you come back.

  11. Jo Says:

The media for the past 7 years have been handling republican screwups with mittens and I’m sure McCain will be treated the same way when he goes toe to toe with Obama.

I’d rather depend on blogs to get real political news as opposed to the MSM, which have no journalistic ethics at all since they’re going for an eyeballs at all costs policy.
