Jesse Jackson Gets Prime Time Speech! JR. That IS
I am excited to see Jesse Jackson Jr. will have his second Prime Time spot at the Democratic National Convention. The other was when he introduced his dad after Jesse Jackson SR’s historic run in the 80’s.
Jesse Jr. is a national co-chair for the Obama campaign. If Barack wins, Congressman Jackson would be a great choice to back fill Obama’s Senate seat. Let’s keep hope alive!

THE 2008 CONVENTION:
One Nation — Monday, August 25th
National Obama Co-Chair Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr.
to Address the Convention
DENVER — The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) and the
Obama For America Campaign announced today that Congressman Jesse L.
Jackson, Jr. has been tapped by Senator Barack Obama to address the
Democratic National Convention in Denver.
A friend, early and active supporter and co-chair of Obama’s
presidential campaign, Congressman Jackson will highlight Senator
Obama’s uniquely American story, record of service and vision for the
country.
“Our theme on Monday night is One Nation, and Representative Jesse
Jackson, Jr. is someone who has worked throughout his career to bring
people together,” said Leah Daughtry, CEO of the DNCC. “The
Democratic Party has a bright future thanks to leaders like him.”
Jackson said, “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to participate as
a speaker at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The nomination
of Senator Barack Obama as president is a defining moment in our
country’s history, and I feel exceedingly proud and privileged to not
only be a witness, but also to play a role at our Convention.”
Congressman Jackson will address the Convention on Monday, August
25th — the same evening that Michelle Obama will be the prime-time
headline speaker.
“My Convention speech is an important moment for me to share what
I’ve come to see and know about an extraordinary public servant
during the last 20 years. As president, Barack Obama will bring our
country together and move us forward to meet the challenges that we
all face. He will lead our nation back on the path to peace and
prosperity,” Jackson concluded.
In his seventh term, Congressman Jackson sits on the House
Appropriations Committee, serving as the Vice-Chair of the
Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs as
well as the fourth most senior Democrat on the Subcommittee on Labor,
Health and Human Services and Education, and Related Agencies. He
also sits on the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food
and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.

I’m glad they had him on, becaue until he got there, that was some of the most borning, put you into a coma speech making I’d ever heard.
Nancy Pelosi ought to killer herself rather than speak in public again. And Obama’s sister was so obviously and unnatually reading the tela-promter, that her eyes the who time were diverted from either the audience or the came; and she kept having to take unnatural pauses to either wait for the tela-promter to catch up, or to find her place.
It was terrible.

I missed Jesse Jr but I heared he did well. I think you may be too hard on the speakers. Pelosi had to speak, not her strengh, and the telepromter is a unatural thing that causes many problems.
Michele did quite well and Kenndy did well.
Think about, other than for a few, the rest are ordinary people on a big stage speaking before thousands plus the national media. It is a lot of pressure.
Obama sister may have done better with index cards and memory. I do much better when I can wing it but at this event, every word more than likly has to be pre approved. Thanks for your comment

I understand the those reasons JD, but if they are not delivering effective communication that’s reaching somebody out there, then what use is it? How is bad communications that no one is listening to; forward the ball? You’re getting free advertising on national t.v., and you’re putting people out there who are causing voters to change the channel.
My thing is, if those people aren’t capable of delivering a decent speech; then they shouldn’t be their doing it.
Excuses simply don’t change the fact that they were terrible!
Again, if they’re ineffective, then what’s the point?
I think about the people who might of tuned in who usually don’t follow politics, are not that plugged in, might have had someone convince them that they need to watch and follow what’s going on. And they turned in to hear that. If they were to look at me and say this is why I don’t watch this stuff, I would not be able to mount an argument in response.
I love to listen to political speeches and I couldn’t bear it. I was on a podcast later on in the evening and a guy who does political podcast said this is the first time he’s really watched a convention in depth. I’ve been watching conventions since ’88 with Jesse’s “Keep Hope Alive” speech, and I was only 10 then; and have watched a substantial portion of each convention since then. So, if you can’t get me to listen to you, I don’t know who is.

Yobachi, I got a chance to watch last night, I even found most of Hillary’s talk boring, Jesse’s speech when you were 10, was an electric moment, as was Barbara Jordan, 10 years sooner and Mario Como in 1984.Michele was great, Hillary ok, we will see how Bill does, but Barack needs to steal the show in a way for white America to embrace him. That will be a special moment for a Black man to be the man but he has to acknowledge this moment in history and then make his case for total party support and Independent voters to say, I trust and like this guy. In business we call those soft skills but it seems that is what this election is all about.
