Update From Denver

Here is a copy of a email I got from Congressman Jackson. You can feel the energy.

Dear James,

I’ve taken a moment out from the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado to bring you up to speed on what’s happened in the last 48 hours.

At this convention both Democrats and Republicans from all across this great nation have come together, rallying behind Barack Obama to take our country on a new path. I’ve been to numerous conventions in my life and something is different this time. While our primary was long and contentious, it has given us a larger, stronger Democratic party than I’ve ever seen before.

But this is no time for rest. I’ve been running all over this convention, talking to everyone about the vision Barack Obama has for our nation. Yesterday I appeared on CBS’ Face the Nation alongside Governors Kathleen Sebelius and Ed Rendell. Click here to watch the video of yesterday’s show.

And just moments ago I left the stage of Politico’s panel on what Barack’s candidacy means for the future of black politics. I was joined by Majority Whip James E. Clybourn, Former Virginia Governor Doug Wilder, Dr. Cornell West and Tavis Smiley. It was a brilliant panel that I hope you’ll take a moment to view. Click here to view the discussion.

Tonight I will take the podium in primetime to address the entire nation and share with them the Barack Obama that I’ve known and supported for over a decade. Tune into PBS for coverage of my speech. I’m slotted to take the stage tonight between 8:00 and 8:30 PM Central Standard Time tonight. I hope you’ll tune in.

We all know that change is nothing new to the 2nd Congressional District. It’s something you and I have been creating in our community for the 13 years that I’ve had the pleasure to serve you. Please donate now and help me continue to bring this change back home.

Again, please tune in tonight to PBS (Channel 11 in Chicago) between 8:00 and 8:30 PM CST as I’ll be speaking from the Democratic National Convention in Denver as I help tell America the story of Barack Obama.

So, I hope that you’ll make a donation of $5, $25, $50, $100, $500 or whatever you can afford to my congressional campaign. Together, we can make history and change the country.

Sincerely,

Jesse L. Jackson Jr.
Member of Congress
